BK-h2Energy

Harpal Kapoor is the founder of the startup BK-H2 Energy, LLC Consulting.  Harpal has more than four decades of experience in executive management and consultant in bus and rail vehicle technologies. He has won many awards and honors in the vehicle engineering, operations and maintenance at transit agencies and consulting companies. Harpal has hands-on experience in the transition to clean diesel, CNG, hybrid diesel- electric, battery-electric and hydrogen fuel cell technologies. Harpal has tested, evaluated, and validated the alternative fuel and zero emission technologies. He has developed roadmaps for successful implementation and scaled up deployment of zero emission technologies for transit agencies.

At BK-H2 Energy, Harpal is focused on consulting services in providing the solutions for fueling the zero emission vehicles and decarbonization of power sector. The Golu-H2 collaboration will provide low-cost hydrogen fuel for hydrogen fuel cell & ICE vehicles, and power(microgrid) for charging the battery-electric vehicles from abundantly available Ethanol in the USA (16 billion gallons/year). BK-H2 Energy will help the clients around the country in smoother transition to zero emission vehicles with hydrogen available at 1/3rd cost of the existing hydrogen produced from conventional processes. The on-site hydrogen production will require a smaller footprint. This will help the transportation clients to transition to hydrogen fuel cell or ICE technology when operating in lower temperatures environment and increase their vehicle range and payload. In the power sector, BK-H2 Energy will provide the on -site hydrogen for co-feed and power the microgrid with renewable hydrogen.

Harpal is a mechanical engineer and has Bachelor of Science (BS) in Mechanical Engineering from NIT, Kurukshetra, India. He is a member of Society of Automotive Engineers (SAE). He has served as the past Board member at American Public Transportation Association (APTA) and Florida Public Transportation Association (FPTA). He currently serves in various committees of APTA to advance zero emission technologies.

ABOUT Golu Hydrogen Technologies Inc.

Golu Hydrogen Technologies Inc., a spinoff from and backed by SBI group of companies, has developed a disruptive green hydrogen production technology, Gölu-H2 that thermo-catalytically extracts hydrogen from a combination of water and a renewable product, ethanol which, unlike electrolysers requires no electricity. Gölu-H2 allows decentralized production of green hydrogen and clean electricity, independent of petroleum feed stocks and high CAPEX wind and solar energy. Use of widely available low carbon ethanol as feed stock in Gölu-H2 solves the hydrogen distribution problem by tapping into existing petroleum pipelines, transportation, distribution, storage and dispensing systems already available globally. Gölu-H2 modularized integrated power generation systems are specially designed for onsite hydrogen generation for heavy and light duty HFCEVs refuelling and generate power for EV charging. Modular units installed onboard a flatbed rail car or a ship will generate hydrogen to drive a hydrogen locomotive or a ship. Rail and ship owners will use existing liquid fuel storage and dispensing facilities for ethanol avoid building cost prohibitive hydrogen supply chain infrastructure. Larger designed built Gölu-H2 units will help decarbonize conventional grey hydrogen utilizing industry sectors such as power generation, petroleum hydro processing, biofuel, SAF, ammonia, fertilizers, bioplastics and steel manufacturing sectors. Golu is attracting major players in diverse industry sectors to partner with and is on a critical path to success.
